ARE YOU LIMITING AN ILLIMITABLE GOD?

ARE YOU LIMITING AN ILLIMITABLE GOD?

Before posting this i struggled and wondered what God wanted me to pass onto you for a week. I recognised that I had not created an environment for Him to speak to me, He allowed me to see that I was refusing to see His cues and hear His voice because of how I had expected Him to speak to me. I expected a loud and big spectacle and yet I refused to listen to that soft whisper.

Throughout the Bible we see how God spoke and things came into existence [Genesis 1], how He went before His people in a pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night [Exodus 13:21-22] ; there are dozens of scriptures of how He appeared to His people but have we convinced ourselves that these are the only ways the Lord can speak to us that when He really does speak and it does not align with what how we thought He would speak, we reject the very voice of God.

The spirit of God is grieved because so many of the children of the Lord are relying on their own understanding of who He is instead of remembering that His ways are not our ways [Isaiah 55:8]  John 16: 12 says "I have much more to tell you, but now it would be too much for you to bear. this shows that there is a desire from the Lord to speak to us and while there are a lot of factors that would stop us from hearing from Him, we need to recognise that this walk is one of faith of the unseen not the seen while relying on what was already spoken [the word of God]  This means that we will not always understand the things He does and maybe we never might but we need to be willing; willing to hear from Him , to let go of our expectations of God and allow ourselves to be surprised and be in awe of all He does.

How do we address this problem? Well for starters, we embrace uncertainty and allow ourselves to be surprised by giving God room for to be GOD ; we need to realise that God will use whatever means to get His words to us[Proverbs 19:21]. It seems easier said than done and this could be hard to do so bring it to Him; ask Him to give Him room to do what He will do, to not allow your limited understanding of who you think God is and how you expect Him to show up to stop you from truly experiencing Him and hearing His voice.

REFLECTION : Think over some areas or any circumstances in your life where your assumptions of God stopped you from hearing from Him or from recognising His voice, How you dealt with it and how you applied it to similar circumstances.
